The Challenge

A major Atlanta area sports facility faced a growing security concern: patrons were climbing fences to gain unauthorized access to the ballpark from outside the building. This posed a significant risk to safety and disrupted the flow of events, as security personnel struggled to respond in time before individuals reached the field and attempted to run the bases.

Our Solution

Astro Integrated Systems developed a tailored solution that combined video analytics with physical security tools to effectively address the problem. We installed cameras with advanced analytics capabilities to create virtual trip lines at the top of the gates. The system is designed to detect unauthorized attempts to breach the perimeter. In addition to the video analytics, we integrated a combination of

spotlights, custom sound IP audio horns, and automated notifications sent to all on shift security personnel via cell phones and/or radios. This system enabled real-time alerts whenever an intrusion was detected. Lastly, all incidents are automatically bookmarked in the security camera system for future reference, supporting any potential litigation needs.

The Results

The solution has drastically reduced the frequency of “gate-jumper” incidents. By leveraging the existing network infrastructure and adding a few strategically placed cameras, we were able to resolve the security issue with minimal disruption. The result: a safer, more secure environment for both patrons and staff, ensuring that security personnel can respond quickly and effectively when needed. This custom solution not only solved the immediate security concerns but also set a foundation for future-proofing the ballpark’s overall security strategy.
